I am NOT throwing away my shot.

Whichever actor is playing Alexander Hamilton in this iteration of Hamilton

I wrote this post a while ago, but more and more I’m realizing life is short. Life is short. Time isn’t endless. I’m not immortal. So I figured I’d post my review about Hamilton, but I wanted to emphasize the importance of chasing your dreams and beign a good person.

Hamilton was amazing. When I first heard it was coming to Memphis, truthfully I purchased a ticket so that I wasn’t left out of the hype. I have a semi serious case of FOMO and it really impacts my wallet. Pray for my budget. But Hamilton was worth the price. I see why it’s so revered and adored by so many people.

The one thing that stuck to me was perseverance and determination. Through it all, knowing that there is a greater path for you. I’ll admit sometimes I’ve had delusions of grandeur (then I’m grounded). But I think it’s pretty normal to think that we all should play a larger role than wherever we may be in life. It’s natural and I think that’s the biggest thing that I learned from the show: to capitalize on what my talents are and how I can benefit others while also owning my narrative. One thing I struggle with is truly sharing what I do with everyone else. I kind of feel like I don’t have to explain anything to anyone. But at the same time, I want to own my narrative. I want to have control over how I’m portrayed, to some extent. That begins with me taking small steps and sharing little tid bits on social media, being seen in public and just continuing to learn and do more.

If you have a chance to see Hamilton, I’d highly encourage everyoune to see it. Take in the characters, take in the energy, and keep it. Remember how you feel and create mantras for yourself after watchign it. It’s THAT empowering.
