“This is a God dream. This is everything.”

Kanye West, Ultra Light Beam

If someone would’ve told me that I’d see Kanye West perform in Detroit where I live and pay rent, I wouldn’t have believed them. Kanye West stopped by the Joe Louis Arena one final time before the venue closes for good. Yep, the same Joe Louis Arena where NWA was arrested for performing Fxxk the Police in the 80’s. Kanye’s Saint Pablo Tour landed in Detroit a few days after Chance the Rapper’s Magnificent Coloring Tour made an appearance at The Fox Theatre.

Kanye’s album, The Life of Pablo, was live streamed in theatres this past February. Patrons paid $20 to go to a movie theatre and watch Kanye West’s part album, part fashion show, part party, part masterpiece (really all of that). I was one of them and I have no regrets. None. The album featured appearances from Kid Cudi, Ty Dolla Sign, Chance the Rapper, Kirk Franklin, Frank Ocean, Desiigner, and more. The live stream was a party in and of itself with a Lamar Odom appearance and of course the Kardashian – Jenners.

His tour was an extension of this party. He played songs thoughout his time as an artist. My favorite part was his entrance and then when he played Can’t Tell Me Nothing. Whew. A moment. Big Sean even made an appearance at the show!
